bought this unit from costco. After charging it for at least 12 hrs as indicated by the direction, the unit shuts down after a few minutes of use. Exchanged it and got another unit from Costco. After charging for 48 hrs and got the full battery indicator, the unit shuts down after about 2 hrs of use. Contacted Whistler Customer service and was told to buy new batteries or keep it plug in all the time. This is a brand new unit with new batteries. Also keeping it plugged in all the time would make the cordless feature pointless. Very disappointed in Whistler products. Will be returning this unit also

Bought this unit at Costco a month ago, after getting four tickets in a span of six months, the last two being speeding tickets. I vowed to defend myself and bought this unit at Costco, partly because of its excellent return policy. I never owned a radar detector before. Before the purchase I did extensive study of different models online. I was concerned that this unit would not be able to detect lidar signal. A few days later my concern was addressed - the same cop aimed his lidar at me again at the same spot where I got the last ticket and this time the unit was able to sound the alarm. It was a good purchase.
I find this unit very easy to use. I actually never put in the rechargeable battery. This unit serves two purposes for me: 1) the frequent alarms of radar signal serves to remind me to constantly be vigilant, 2) when a cop really points his lidar at me I am warned immediately.
