Product Description
The Whistler DE1670 offers complete radar detection with a memo feature that allows you to record up to six separate messages for a total of 60 seconds. This detector also provides Real Voice alerts that allow to you to keep your eyes on the road, and an advanced high-visibility digital text display with more than 60 messages. Special features include 360-degree Total Perimeter Protection, plus VG-2 Cloaking Technology that alerts you to the presence of VG-2 police surveillance and "conceals" your detector. The DE1670 detects X, K, and superwideband Ka radar, plus laser and safety radar systems, including the Safety Warning System (which increases driver's safety by alerting motorists to upcoming road hazards such as accident sites). This detector features an alert priority that warns you of the greatest radar threat and a city mode that reduces the annoyance of false alerts typically encountered in urban driving areas. It also has a battery-saver feature that automatically shuts off your detector if you forget to. The unit comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

Whistler 1670 Laser/Radar Detector with Memo Voice
This review is from: Whistler 1670 Laser/Radar Detector with Memo Voice (Electronics)
I purchased the 1670 from Sears to replace an old Uniden that was about 8 years old. While the city modes are much improved over my Uniden and eliminated almost all of the false alerts (I live in a surburban/urban area),several of the other features proved annoying at best. If radar is detected, the voice alert announces one time only the band detected and then visual alerts take over. Unfortunately, if you play the radio, CD player etc. while driving, the voice alert can not be heard unless you adjust the volume to its loudest. If you set it for its loudest, you then have to suffer through an ear-piercing renditiom of all the bands in a female voice each time you start your car. If you mute the sound and depend on the visual alert alone, it is virtually useless on a sunny day. Even at its brightest, the visual alerts cannot be seen, and there is no accompanying audio alert after...Read more
