I bought a Radio Shack scanner antenna and it didn't pick up much more than the one that came with the scanner. I tried this one and it picked up channels the other one didn't get at all. Mine has been up a couple of years in some windy conditions and it is still ok. this is the antenna to get.

Excellent antanna for scanners. I've been using it for years and the reception is awesome. Highly reccomended for houses/small businesses rooftops.

The antenna was very easy to assemble and mount.

The scanner seems to pick up more and is much clearer.It hasn't gone thru any wind storms yet

so I can't comment on its durability
