Product Description
"No more false alarms" This is the claim of the new Escort Passport 9500ix. The 9500ix is a innovative product from Escort that combines GPS technology with a high performance radar detector to eliminate false alerts. Users are allowed to program warnings for fixed red lights, speed cameras and speed traps.
The Escort 9500ix is now equipped with the "AutoLearn" feature, which will make for a quieter and stress free driving experience. Over a period of time driving the same route to and from work or around town, the 9500ix will learn that a false alert is being set off and will block the frequency ensuring that a alert will only occur when there is a real speed trap.
The AutoLearn feature cross-references your location with the frequency of the signal and when it encounters the same signal in the same spot three times, it stores and blocks it out. If the location is a known hot spot for false alerts, the user can manually lock out the signal using the TrueLock feature, prior to the third pass. The longer the 9500ix is used, fewer false alarms should occur, creating a more pleasurable driving experience.
The Escort 9500ix is pre-loaded with thousands of safety camera locations, including red light and fixed positions speed cameras, located throughout North America and can also be updated using the Trinity online database. The 9500ix's SpeedAlert feature will display your current speed when it provides an alert. The Escort 9500ix also offers a unique AutoVolume feature. A built-in microphone senses the ambient noise level in the vehicle and adjusts the volume level accordingly.
The Escort 9500ix is designed to integrate with the Cincinnati Microwave ZR4 Laser Defense System.
Summary: Functionality and looks excellent 2010-02-28
Comment: The Escort Passport 9500ix was easy to set up and worked to its advertised functionality as expected. The blue light complimented my blue dashbord on my 2004 TL. My wife was startleted the first time the voice came on. I had two 8500's, and this 9500 has surpassed my expections. I highly recommend this product.

Summary: Not worth the money 2010-02-22
Comment: I live in Phoenix where we are blasted with red light cams and photo radar etc. We got a unit here that does not come close to the claims it makes. For starters, this radar detector will absolutely not let you know about intersection cams and fixed photo radar until your within 100 yards or less which means unless you know the cam is there, your caught. If you know the cam is there, why do you need this anyway, you'd slow down regardless or not make the turn. As far as performance of photo radar vans, not once did this unit alert us until we were literally right next to the photo radar van itself; again completely useless. I've used radar detectors in the past and those old units alerted me a half mile to a mile away of anything. This one simply does not even alert you before you are well beyond the point of no return. If you are anything like me, the last thing you want to do is put your concentration on the radar detector, you need to trust it to alert you in plenty of time to make a speed correction. This unit requires your attention because it does not alert you at all, period until your within 50 to 100 yards. As we all know, police radar, laser etc have a much higher range than this. Here you are simply not covered. Perhaps there was something wrong with my unit, regardless I have returned it for a refund. To the credit of this detector, the false alert filter is a dream. It is by far the best performing for filtering out unwanted radar triggers such as retail store automatic doors. The suction cup windshield mount this comes with is flimsy and cheap. It will hold the detector in place once or twice before you need to reposition it and\or re apply it so the detector remains stable and level. The two tiny suction cups are not able to support this for very long at all. Overall, very disapointed. Save your money and your own common sense will keep you safer than depending on radar detector this for sure.

Summary: End of false signals ( for the most part ) 2010-02-19
Comment: Had the 8500 model and the false signals from other radar type transmissions were so bad in town I had to turn down the sound. This 9500 model gives me peace and quiet except for new signals I need to pay attention to. Sometimes takes a minute or two to pick up GPS signal and can't mute your blocked radar signals until GPS is picked up. Also like the heads up on traffic signal cameras. Hooks up to computer with just a common USB cable and does NOT require any other power source ( unlike I read in others' comments ). Would buy again!

Comment: This 9500ix can see cops before they can see me. Love the built in GPS.
