Comment: I chose to hardwire my radar detector in instead of using the factory provided curly cord deal. With this system I can use my leadfoot to mute the detector when I don't want the guy behind me to see the hand moving up to where I hid my unit

Also because I purchased the 9500ix the mute function is especially important since 3 mutes in rapid succession adds the frequency and location to your annoyance list. I chose to disable the auto list builder function and do it myself since there are so many speed traps they would add themselves to the list and be given forgiveness from further alerting after 3 passes. I can do that in a week!

This cord really should be supplied with a detector at the 9500ix price point.

Comment: This items Achilles heel is the mount in which you use to attach it to your car's interior. It comes with Velcro which not only looks very cheap and unsightly, but I have already had it peel off once. What would have been nice was some sort of hard-mount option. Maybe I'll try to take it apart and see if I can attach it with a screw - still not my first choice. Escort should have thought ahead and included a clip or some other fastener for this purpose. Other than that, it works well considering it's nothing more than a mute switch and a hard-wire for your detector.

Comment: The directwire is definetly a must buy for the escort radar setup.

Although I didnt install this myself, it is great never to have to deal with the bulky cord that hangs to your cigarette jack.
Plus it starts the radar up with the start of your vehicle and shuts down with your vehicle.

No worries with this product.

Comment: This came with everything I am so glad to get my lighter clear from all the wires and nnow my truck looks so much better great deal and made my interior neater!!

Comment: I bought this to install in my 20007 Subaru Impreza STi. I like how the interface is small, so I secured it where there was room for OWE switches on the left of the dash. The ease of use makes this little puppy well worth not having a stretch cord hanging in front of the window.
