I'll try to be brief:Good: great sensitivity! Picks up real cops at terrific ranges over a mile! Bad: in towns where the cops circle like sharks, it never shuts up. The city mode ONLY mutes the X band when the signal is below 50% strength, but does nothing for actually desensitizing and alerting later. It does NOTHING AT ALL for K/Ka bands, which seem to false more than normal on this detector. Bad: Terrible falsing in my experience. In order to catch every cop, it also alerts to every store, every other radar detector, and I sometimes suspect itself. Poor: the "automute" is very subtle.... 80% of full volume isn't very muted! I'd want 20% or less volume in the "automuted" state! Atavistic Implementation: the "intellimute" function DOES mute quite nicely below user-set engine RPMs. Great idea and a godsend due to the above falsing. Updating the GPS database is easy and extremely quick. There are a lot more speed traps than we had realized. We have used it traveling from Las Vegas to Reno, NV, then to Oregon and back through the Central Valley of California. It picked up radar signals from a long distance. Overall very happy with it. |
